تمكنت بعثة أميركية للمرة الأولى من تصوير سمكة "شيطان البحر الأسود" عن قرب وهي تسبح في أعماق البحر، وذلك بعدما كانت تشاهد حصراً نافقة على الشواطئ.
عادت البعثة الأميركية من خليج "مونتيري" في كاليفورنيا هذه المرة بسبق تحقق بعد 20 عاماً من "التنقيب" عن هذه السمكة النادرة التي لم يتمكن أحد سابقاً من تصويرها عن قرب وهي تسبح في أعماق المحيطات.
وقالت المتحدثة باسم المعهد الأمريكي كيم فولتون إن هذا الإنجاز تم تحقيقه بفضل كاميرات وأجهزة فحص حراري صممت خصيصاً للتعرف على أنواع جديدة من المخلوقات البحرية، حسب موقع سي إن إن الأميركي.
وتشبه سمكة الشيطان الأسود المعروفة باسم "the black seadevil" الأسماك التي نشاهدها في المتاحف البحرية، وتتميز بأنيابها الحادة وبضوء أقرب إلى المصباح الكهربائي فوق رأسها يتوهج في الظلام لتجتذب من خلاله الفرائس نحوها بكل سهولة كالمغناطيس.
