نجح مجموعة من العلماء والباحثين في الإجابة على التساؤل الذي استمر لمئات السنين، وهو "الدجاجة أولًا أم البيضة؟"، حيث توصلوا إلى أن الدجاجة تواجدت أولًا، وفقًا لما ذكرته صحيفة "ديلي ميل" البريطانية. وأوضح العلماء أن الدجاجة تواجدت منذ 10 آلاف عامًا، في الصين، ومن ثم انتشرت في أنحاء قارة آسيا، حيث كان يتم تدجين الدجاج بالقرب من النهر الأصفر، شمال الصين. وجاء الاكتشاف، بعدما حصل العلماء على حمض نووي لدجاجة منذ 10 آلاف و500 عام، وتأكد أن هناك تشابهًا كبيرًا بالدجاج الموجود في المحلات الآن. ويأتي هذا الاكتشاف ليؤكد ما توصل إليه العلماء في جامعتي شفيلد وورويك، منذ 4 سنوات، حيث كانوا يعتقدون أن الدجاجة هي التي أتت في البداية. واستدلَّ العلماء بكون الدجاجة هي التي جاءت قبل البيضة لأنها هي التي تضع البيض، موضحين أن الأبحاث التي أجروها أظهرت أن تكوّن أو تشكّل قشر البيض يعتمد على البروتين، وهو موجود في الدجاجة.
