أزال باحثون بريطانيون دودة شريطية من نوع نادر كانت تعيش في دماغ رجل لمدة أربع سنوات.
وقال الباحثون الذين أجروا العملية أن الدودة وطولها سنتيمترا واحدا، تحركت داخل دماغ الرجل (50 عاما)، من الجهة اليمنى إلى اليسرى نحو خمسة سنتيمترات.
ولم تسجل مثل هذه الحالة النادرة أبدا في بريطانيا، بينما سجلت 300 حالة حول العالم منذ 1953.
ونعرف هذه الدودة باسم 'الدودة لولبية الرحم الإيرلندية'، وتسبب التهابا بأنسجة الجسم مما يؤدي إلى حدوث نوبات، كذلك قد تؤدي إلى فقدان الذاكرة والصداع.
وتنتقل الدودة إلى جسم الإنسان عن طريق تناول القشريات المصابة من البحيرات، وتناول لحوم البرمائيات أو الزواحف.
وأكد معهد ويلكوم ترست سانجر، حيث أجريت العملية، أن المريض تعافى من العملية وهو في صحة جيدة.
