كشف الملياردير السعودى الوليد بن طلال عن البدء فى بناء أطول برج بالعالم بجدة على ساحل البحر الأحمر بتكلفة 20 مليار دولار. وأكد الوليد بن طلال فى مؤتمر صحفى عقده، اليوم، بمقر المشروع بشمال جدة، البدء فى بناء برج المملكة بجدة الذى يعد أطول برج فى العالم بطول 1000م، خلال الأيام المقبلة، بواقع طابق كل أربعة أيام، بعد أن تم الانتهاء من بناء أساسات المشروع، متوقعًا الانتهاء من بناء البرج بداية عام 2018. وأعلن الأمير الوليد عن أن مساحة المشروع تبلغ 5 ملايين متر مربع، وتكلفة إنشائه تبلغ 20 مليار دولار، لافتًا إلى أن عدد السكان الذين سيحتضنهم المشروع الضخم يبلغ حوالى 180 ألف فرد، مشتملاً على فندق ومدارس ومستشفيات ومجمعات تجارية وسكنية.
