حصل رجل من نيويورك امضى 16 عاما في السجن على جريمة قتل لم يرتكبها على تعويض قدره عشرة ملايين دولار من بلدية نيويورك على ما اعلن محاميه.وحكم على الاميركي الاسود جبار كولينز الذي يبلغ الثانية والاربعين اليوم، في بروكلين في اذار/مارس 1995 بعد دانته بتهمة قتل الحاخام ابراهام بولاك في شباط/فبراير 1994 على اساس افادات شهود اكدوا انهم رأوه يهرب من مكان الجريمة. وكان يومها في الحادية والعشرين.وفي سجنه تعلم كولينز الحقوق واكتشف ان احد الشهود عاد عن افادته حتى قبل بدء المحاكمة من دون ان يبلغ محاميه بالامر.وكانت الشرطة قد كتبت الافادة على ما اكد الشاهد الذي وقعها اكراها لتجنب ان توجه اليه التهمة في قضية اخرى. واكتشف جبار كولينز ايضا ممارسات اخرى مشكوك بامرها وقد الغى قاض الحكم الصادر في حقه في حزيران/يونيو 2010 مدينا هذه "الممارسات المشينة" لمكتب المدعي العام في تلك الفترة تشارلز هاينز. وقد افرج عن كولينز.ورفع كولينز بعد ذلك شكوى مدنية ضد بلدية وولاية نيويورك.وفضل الطرفان الاخيران التوصل الى اتفاق بالتراضي لتجنب المحاكمة. ووافقت الولاية الشهر الماضي على دفع ثلاثة ملايين دولار والبلدية الان على دفع عشرة ملايين.ويعمل كولينز منذ خروجه من السجن مساعدا قانونيا في مكتب محاميه.وقرر الان بعدما اصبح غنيا، ان يأخذ عطلة طويلة ويريد ان يصبح بعد ذلك قسا والاستمرار في العمل لمساعدة اشخاص حكم عليهم زورا.
