يمكن النظر بمنظار آخر إلى الأيام الأخيرة من حياة السيد المسيح عليه السلام عن طريق ترجمة النصوص من اللغة القبطية التي كتبت منذ 1200 عام مضى، حيث عثر على مخطوطتين في عام 1910 في مصر. وبالنتيجة وقعت هاتان المخطوطتان في أيدي مجموعة رجل الأعمال الأمريكي جون مورغان، فظهرت إحداها في متحف جامعة بينسيلفانيا (Museum of the University of Pennsylvania ) والأخرى في المكتبة المتحف مورغان في نيويورك (Morgan Library and Museum ).
ويعرض المترجم والباحث رويلوف بان دين بروك (Roelof van den Broek ) في جامعة أوتريخت من خلال الكتاب بعنون "شبه القديس كيرلس الأورشليمي عن حياة وآلام السيد المسيح" (Pseudo-Cyril of Jerusalem on the Life and the Passion of Chrest ) مجموعة الأعمال المزيفة التي تحوي على قصص غير معروفة في الإنجيل.والتي تشرح بشكل خاص عشاء السيد المسيح مع بونتيوس بيلاطيوس قبيل صلبه، وأيضا المعاناة الداخلية للمدعي العام اليهودي.ومن الممكن أن قدرة "ابن الله" بالتحديد على تغيير هيئته قد أملى قبلة يهوذا، وبهذا الشكل يكون قد أعطى إشارة للحرس المتجهزين للقبض عليه من الموجودين هو السيد المسيح. ونضيف على ذلك أنه حسب النص اللقاء السري والقبض بعده على السيد المسيح قد وقعا يوم الثلاثاء. وهذا يناقض تماما ما جاء في الإنجيل، حيث تشير الأحداث فيه إلى يوم الخميس الذي أطلق عليه الخميس العظيم في الأسبوع الأليم حسب التقاليد المسيحية. وبهذا الشكل نجد أن العشاء الأخير للسيد المسيح قبيل صلبه كان ليس مع تلاميذه وإنما مع بونتيوس بيلاطيوس.وبالتعليق على اقتراح بونتيوس بيلاطويس غير المعروف سابقا بالتضحية بولده في سبيل السيد المسيح يشير مؤلف الكتاب البروفسور بروك إلى أن الإشارة إلى ذلك في المخطوطات لا يعني بعد أن هذه الأحداث تطورت بهذا الشكل في الحقيقة. فهذه النصوص توافق العادات والتقاليد المسيحية الإثيوبية والقبطية التي تؤمن بماهية بونتيوس بيلاطيوس وتعكس وجهة نظر مجموعة من الناس عن حياة السيد المسيح قبل 1200 عاما.
