أعلن بحث حديث أجراه عدد من الباحثين الفرنسيين المتخصصين في أمراض الأوبئة، أن تناول المشروبات التي يطلق عليها "مشروبات لايت" بصفة منتظمة تزيد خطورة الإصابة بمرض السكر النوع الثاني، حسبما نشرت مجلة "جورنال أوف كلينيكل نوتريشن" الأميركية.
واشتملت الدراسة على عينة من 66 ألفاً و118 سيدة لمدة 14 عاماً من عام 1993 وحتى 2007، وكن يستهلكن هذه المشروبات باكثر من 1.5 لتر في الأسبوع أي حوالي خمس زجاجات ما عرضهن لخطورة متزايدة بنسبة 130% للاصابة بمرض السكر النوع الثاني بالمقارنة باللاتي لا يستهلكن مثل هذه المشروبات وهذه الخطورة لاتزيد عن نسبة 50% في حالات استهلاك مايعادلها من المشروبات التي تحتوى على سكر.
