أعلن الملياردير الجنوب إفريقي، باتريس موتسيبيه، أنه سيتبرع بنصف ثروته لجمعية خيرية، بناء على دعوة بيل غيتس ووارن بافيت. ويدير باتريس موتسيبيه، البالغ من العمر 51 عاماً، المجموعة المنجمية "أفريكان رينبو مينيرالز" وتبلغ ثروته 2,65 مليار دولار، وهي ثامن أكبر ثروة إفريقية، بحسب مجلة "فوربس" الأمريكية.وأعلنت زوجته أن المبلغ "سيستعمل أثناء حياته وبعد وفاته بغية تحسين الحياة اليومية وظروف المعيشة لدى المواطنين الجنوب إفريقيين، من فقراء ومعوقين وعاطلين عن العمل نساء وشباباً"، بحسب ما ذكرت "السفير".وموتسيبيه هو الإفريقي الأول الذي يستجيب للحملة التي أطلقها سنة 2010 المستثمر وارن بافيت، ومؤسس "مايكروسوفت"، بيل غيتس، والتي تهدف إلى تشجيع الشخصيات الأكثر ثراء للتبرع بجزء كبير من ثرواتهم لأهداف إنسانية خيرية.
